Luke 14:1-24

All of us want to belong. We long to be in friendships where we can be loved and experience acceptance and healing. However in our brokenness we often create a greater distance between ourselves and others – usually due to our own selfishness – where we want (or demand) our way, where we want to receive much offering little in return, where we can feel safe by being with people who are more than less like us and where we can benefit from being with those we like. We miss that the path to wholeness and true joy is found in what we give to others instead of what we receive from them recognizing that being rewarded by God is far better than being rewarded by people.
