The battle in our day is for the Bible. For decades, numbers of sceptics have asked disconcerting questions concerning both the accuracy and authority of Scripture. The trend has now moved even to those who would claim to be believers and call themselves ‘evangelical’. Some claim the Bible merely contains God’s Word. Some claim only certain authors of Scripture or books of Scripture can be trusted and relied on. Others claim the Bible was written in an ignorant and unenlightened era and contains harmful teachings. Some point out inconsistencies and errors. For many believers, our answers, though true, were both simple and simplistic. The Bible is the foundation for everything we know about who God is, who we are and how we relate to Him.
